Holiday ... Budapest, Hungary

On Friday 27 April we flew from Istanbul to Budapest and we boarded The MS Amabella.- our home for the next 14 days. The boat was a floating five-star hotel, the cuisine was superb, fabulous entertainment with a wonderful crew. Throughout the cruise we passed through cities, quaint towns, locks, charming rural regions, were given informative guided tours and we saw many striking landscapes of Europe's countryside. It was an abundance of sights, scenes, displays, panoramas … lots of 'wow' and always something to take your interest.

Daily we went on shore excursions - cathedrals, abbeys, ruins, medieval castles, fortresses, cultural monuments and monasteries abounded in the areas and so much history everywhere.

On the way from Budapest to Amsterdam our itinerary was of the following:
  • a city tour of Budapest and Vienna,
a highlight was the Hungarian State Opera House, the wide variety of architectural masterpieces including examples of Neo-Renaissance, Baroque and Romanesque architecture – beautiful old cities
