Holiday ... Bratislava, Slovakia

  • a country town tour of Bratislava, capital of Slovakia
          it was a communist-themed excursion

Slovakia became independent from Czechoslavakia in the early 19990's and has recently enjoyed a renaissance in culture and rebuilding.  The old town is nearly all a pedestrian zone and abounds with charming houses and buildings which mostly have been restored and repainted after the fall of communism.

castle - rectangular building with four corners has a strategic location

Apollo Bridge with pre-cast concrete panel housing in the distance

Alexander Dubcek - father of the Slovak State

Old Town Hall  - a complex of numerous buildings from different architectural periods
