Holiday ... Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany
5th May - we enjoyed a walking tour of the old town with it's highlights. Through the centre of town runs the Regnitz River, separating the 'old town' from the 'new town'. The intricate murals on the colourful half-timbered houses and the elegant baroque architecture, streets of charming houses and 18 th century mansions made it a very pretty place. Old City Hall, little Venice and the cathedral were all highlights of the tour. We also visited a traditional Bamberg Beer Haus. 'Rauchbier' (smoked beer) is Bamberg's specialty: dark red ale with a smokey flavour and an aftertaste of bacon.
