We left the Danube River behind and we entered the monumental Main Danube Canal, linking the North Sea to the Black Sea. We went through a series of 16 locks and we crossed the Continental Divide of Europe (highest point of the trip). On board we celebrated with Blue champagne cocktails at 10am!
The video is of the MS Amabella in the Leerstetten Lock, dropping 27.4 metres
We arrived in Nuremburg after lunch and visited areas of historical significant sites pertaining to WWII.
Most of the city was completely destroyed during WWII (in 90 minutes) and the historical buildings have been rebuilt, using the very same stones. We heard about the rise and the fall of the Nazi party in Germany. 1927 and 1929 were the first years that the National Socialists held their so-called Party Rallies in the Luitpoldhain in Nuremburg. In 1933 Nuremberg was offically designated the city of the Reichsparteitage - Nazi Party Rallies These rallies were held every year in September, up until 1938. They lasted a week and drew as many as one million people to Nuremberg from all over Germany. Adolf Hitler chose the city as the site for his annual Nazi party rallies and later the city became the famous location for the Nuremburg trials.
We don't know what happened to our photos of Nuremberg.
