Another birthday ….
A birthday present like some other golf presents but for my 74th, it was a trip to the Great Ocean Road to play a golf course there. A splendid effort by Dave.
We travelled by car and stayed at motels along the way. It was a four day stay at the Lorne Resort,Vic. - a heritage hotel and along the way we did a spot of sight-seeing of the Great Ocean Road (GOR). Whilst there I hacked my way around the golf course at Anglesea - a novel adventure, and a wonderful course with many kangaroos abounding.
The very pretty coastline (GOR) is home to a lot of history - many shipwrecks along the Bass Strait and the construction of the road was undertaken by returning veterans of WW1. These days it is largely a tourist destination, the 12 Apostles being the main feature.
The following photos are of some of the trip - scenery, accommodation, sights etc.

We didn't visit on this occasion but it was a photo opportunity!

We stayed with a mate of Dave’s in Warnnabool. A couple of days there and Bob also showed us the sights in the region.

| Earlier in the year, there were some huge rain events in the area, as a result vehicles from caravan parks were washed out to sea! Here there is some salvaging taking place, we just happened to be travelling through, the tide was out and the work was happening. |
A round of golf spoiled by 5 attempts to get out of a bunker on the last hole, only to get into another bunker on the other side. I think I may have said Bugger!
As an aside, on our trip South we passed through a town called Raymond Terrace. It is the place we lived in for a couple of years in the late 70's and early 80's while we were in the RAAF. Nearly 50 years later the house is still in pretty much the same condition as it was then. However we spent some happy times there. It was where Jodi first went to school, many memories but we were also very poor!

A lovely birthday present, the weather was great all the way and nice trip down memory lane as well.
(only mildly spoiled by the surging fuel crisis)
