Family for Xmas - 2016

We were lucky to have Jodes and our two grandsons visit for two weeks over Xmas and the New Year.

Jodes is looking really good, fit and healthy and Vance who is 9 years and Kai is 6 years old, have both grown and matured in the past year.

Out at the RSL
Xmas morning is always more fun when there are kids in the house ... and Vance and Kai certainly made it special ... paper going everywhere and squeals amid excitement.

Think Kai is happy

Mum didn't miss out either

Vance's drone is up the tree somewhere ....

It was Pops job to rescue it so mysteriously the batteries ran out!

A hot Xmas lunch about to be enjoyed by the family.  Earlier in the year when I learnt Jodi and the boys were coming for Xmas, I decided it was going to be a traditional meal complete with plum puddings with coins.  Alas I should have checked with everyone because the boys don't like dried fruit!  Never mind the adults got the money.

We got a big downpour of rain on Xmas day so it was a lot cooler than it normally would have been.  The 45 mls was a mere drop in near-empty tanks.

We had a couple of days recovery before we set off to Imbil, about 50 kms south west of Gympie for a stay in a country cabin.  It was located on the Yabba Creek and Borumba Lake was 11 kms up the road so we also took the boat up for some watersports.

Main group of Imbil Country Cabins
Our cabin, Williams Quarters, was next to the manager's residence and was set away from the main cluster of cabins.  We had a more rural outlook from our outdoor area and a huge fig tree in our foreground.  An extended family group had booked the four cabins for the same period that we were there so the boys had other kids to play with.

Massive fig tree - at night they had laser lights on the tree which was very pretty

An old storeroom is in the background, it's no longer used but adds a rustic, and historic feel to the complex

At different times there were a lot of people on the river who were staying at the caravan park around the corner but we were especially fortunate to have many manicured, green acres to ourselves.  They had fireplaces set up around the complex so we had some night time entertainment with toastie marshmallows and some fireside stories.

One of the days we spent up at Lake Borumba - wakeboarding of sorts behind the boat, trapping red claws and swimming out in the deep.  It was very hot the whole time so water was the best place to be.

The crew

Pops and Vance building something very difficult, an elevator skyrail - small fingers were needed and Pops brain.  A bonding project!

Jodes relaxing
It must have been before lunch cause she has a coffee cup!

Cricket game in progress and the red feature is the Xmas tree that changed colours every minute - it was very pretty.
It was a super 4 days, cool in the water, plenty to do and company if we wanted it and a beautiful serene setting in the Mary Valley.
