Grandies visit Nov 2013

We had the pleasure of Jodes, Vance and Kai's company for a couple of weeks.  The break

from Darwin at this time of the year is usually a reprieve from the 'awful Darwin humidity'

round this time of the year and a time for Nana and Pops to enjoy their grandchildren at a

different time in their young lives.  Kai is aged 3 and Vance is 6 years old - both seemed to

show one another a lot of 'brotherly love'.  They are very handsome boys - very much like the

 Peters!

Jodes, Vance and Kai at Inskip Point ... enjoying the sea and a swim without worrying about boxed jellyfish and crocodiles!

The "Lads" - on the bike

At the playground, Jodes and Kai - he's getting 'help' on the flying fox

In the front yard - Vance 'thrashing' Nana at tennis

A day trip out at Rainbow Beach - kids were  looking for the Rainbows!

Coffee break

Jodes great panorama shot of Inskip Point

Boys showing Nana 'how to play' snakes and ladders

Boys 'tricking' Nana into water pistol games

Are there really no crocodiles in there?
The duck is eating all my crusts!

More duck feeding time (prior to Kai running into the picnic table)

Daily ritual - walking Lizzi, looking out for kangaroos and Kai found it particularly fascinating to 'watch' Lizzi poo!

Down at Mooloolaba looking at crabs

One of the excursions was a visit to Underwater world in Mooloolaba.  The kids are really intrigued with animals and nature so it was a fun place to either view up close or from a distance -  seals, sharks, stingrays, scuba divers, tropical fish and the like ...

In the jaws!
Part of the seal show, it was quite a spectacle and they are beautiful creatures - sleek in the water, pretty faces and very well trained - obedient!

Groucho and Bella

 Nelson
We also went out to Tin Can Bay to feed the dolphins at high tide - a local attraction

Kai and Mum in the water
The weather also broke while the Pokes were visiting - this time in the form of a hail storm.  The previous visit they experienced the flood event. - weather gods???

Walking the rainforest at Amamoor when the storm started brewing ...

Thunder abounds (Kai with his hands over his ears), and Nana leads the way back to the car.

Hail time - first fall, the second fall were bigger and sharper so the kids kept inside while they were pelting out of the sky

It resembled light snow.

Afterwards when the hail had melted there were pools of water about ...

In the background Pops is inflating the tyres after a run along the beach..

Picnic time at Inskip Point - angels for a short time

Vance playing at being a crocodile

Enjoying a drink at the Silky Oaks beer garden - Vance was the photographer

A lovely visit, enjoyed by Nana and Pops and hopefully a little break for a Mum with her hands full!

Happy birthday to Lizzi

She's a grand 'old' girl, 13 today and in human terms 91 years old!  She still manages to wag her tail but moves these days as opposed to 'bounce around'.  Her daily routine is to walk twice a day, about 5kms all up but at a very much slower pace these days.

A yummy kangaroo steak birthday treat.
